Dora Melanie Kerr Starr was born to Frank H. and Etha M. McCoy Kerr of Umatilla, Oregon on August 19, 1941 in Pendleton, Oregon. She peacefully passed away in her sleep on Monday, April 2, 2018 at the age of 76 in Lexington, Oregon. She was a loving mother to son, LaRoy L. Cline, daughter, Ann L. Cline Kemper and her husband Patrick, daughter Tammy L. Toda and her husband Keith, daughter, Etha D. McElroy and her husband Chops and son, David W. Eldrige and his wife Jody. In her youth she was involved in a school dance team as well as playing a snare drum in the school band. In those youthful exploits she was also a majorette. Her passions in life were painting, hunting, fishing, growing beautiful flowers and a large vegetable garden. Dora especially loved the outdoors which included activities of camping, berry picking and mushroom hunting. She also financially supported the Native American Education Fun as well as gave generously from her garden to the Neighborhood Center of Heppner, Oregon. She is survived by her brother, Laurance F. Kerr and his wife Ava Kerr of The Dalles, Oregon. Dora was grandmother to 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Dora was preceded in death by her father and mother and her twin brothers, Ray and Roy Kerr, also her husband of 30 years, James E. Starr. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1200 NW Naito Parkway # 220, Portland, Oregon 97209-2831. A memorial graveside service was held at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Umatilla, Oregon on Saturday, April 7. Sweeney Mortuary of Heppner is in care of arrangements.
