Amber Rollis Obituary

Amber J’nae Rollis, 42, of Heppner, passed away Sunday, February 28th 2021 at Legacy Emmanuel Hospital in Portland, Oregon. She was born on November 19, 1978 in Heppner, the daughter of James and June Rollis of Heppner. She was the middle child of and older sister, April A. Rollis and a younger brother, Dustin d. Rollis. She attended school in Heppner from kindergarten through 10th grade.

Throughout her life she was involved in a variety of school and church activities. At a young age she found employment at Shari’s Restaurant in Hermiston, before employment at Safeway also in Hermiston. Amber worked in the Hermiston Safeway for a number of years before moving to Phoenix, Arizona where she continued working for Safeway for the next 15 years.

Amber enjoyed shopping for gifts online to send to her parents, spending a day at Renaissance Festivals and she loved attending live performances of the Celtic Women Singers and reading whether paperbacks or on her Kindle. She also loved the color purple, and cats-all cats!! Amber made many friends throughout her life.

In November 2019 Amber moved back home to live with her parents in Heppner. She loved to win any card game and cooking breakfast for her dad. Amber and her mom often went shopping at Goodwill in Hermiston and having lunch at the Chinese restaurant.

On February 20, 2021 Amber was taken to the ER at Good Shepherd Hospital by her parents and after a series of tests and CT scans she was flown to Legacy Emmanuel Medical Center where she was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension – high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs. As part of her treatment, she was put in a drug induced coma, and was unable to regain consciousness when they were removed. She remained in the ICU a full week and had outstanding medical care doing all they could to save her life. On Sunday Morning February 28, 2021 Amber lost her battle against this disease.

Survivors include her parents, James and June of Heppner, a sister April of Wildwood Florida and a brother Dustin D. Rollis and his wife Jillian and nephew Hunter of Elk, Washington, many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
