Edmond S. Cooney, 74 of Condon, Oregon died June 20, 2022, in Wheeler County, Oregon on the John Day River.
His funeral service will be held August 27, at St. John Catholic Church in Condon at 11 a.m. Rosay will be 7 p.m. Friday August 26, at St. John.
Ed was born in The Dalles, Oregon on June 23, 1947, to Matt and Virginia Cooney. He was raised outside of Condon on the Cooney homestead.
He attended both elementary and high school in Condon. He graduated in 1965, and attended trade school in Portland, Oregon. In 1968 he entered the Army, was honorably discharged in 1070. Ed married Diane DeLair on July 31, 1971, he finished computer programming school, and moved back to Condon to work for International Harvesters. Various jobs followed, but in 1976 he was offered a hay cubing partnership in the Imperial Valley, California. He moved his family and lived there for 38 years! He retired in January 2014. The decided to come to Oregon and live for 9 months. They sold their home in California and moved home to Condon where they bought Ed’s parents’ home.
Ed is survived by his wife Diane, Jennifer their daughter and Seth their son, 3 grandchildren, Edmond (Eddie), Trinity, and Trenten, his brother Chuck (Alice), sister Ellen, and many nieces and nephews.
