Herschel David McCurry, 77, of Heppner, died Sunday March 25, 2018 at his home. A private celebration of life service will be held in his honor at a later date.
Herschel was born January 7, 1941 at Seneca, South Carolina the son of Benjamin and Lucy Quarles McCurry. He graduated from Clemson High School and attended Clemson College.
He was a Viet Nam Veteran, he served in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Merrick. Herschel was self-employed as a truck driver.
As a child he lived in Seneca, South Carolina, but during his Navy Career he fell in love with the state of Oregon living in Portland, Lakeview and Heppner.
On December 18, 1969, Herschel married Judy Kay Fricks in Waycross, Georgia.
Herschel is survived by his wife Judy, of Heppner, daughter, Melissa McCurry, son, David McCurry and his wife Michelle, daughter, Michele McCurry-Webb and her husband Donny, daughter, Kimberly McCurry-Weathers and her husband William, grand-children; Cameron, Gibson, Tresslyn, Erica, Taylor, Lauren, Trevor, Kelsie, Gunnar, Kannan, and Pistol, and 1 great grand-child, Natasha.
