Jerold August “Jerry” Koerner, 90, of Heppner, died, Wednesday July 28, 2021, at Kennewick, Washington. He was born February 13, 1931, at Le Mars, Iowa.
Jerry was a veteran of the Korean War, after returning home, he continued his college education at Trine University in Angola, Indiana. He worked as an engineering writer and manager of technical publications School of Engineering, at Stanford University. He finished his working career as a writer at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation.
Jerry leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Deanna Koerner of Heppner, two sons, Christopher Koerner of Kennewick, Washington and Joseph Koerner of Springfield, Oregon, daughters, Stephanie Koerner-Schultz and her husband Kevin of Pasco, Washington and Catherine Powell of Portland, Oregon;7 grandchildren including, Elizabeth Steege and her husband Ryan and great-grandson Brennan of Kennewick, Washington, Daniel Koerner and his wife Sarah of Kennewick, Washington Christopher Clem of Washington, DC; Tristin Schultz and Nicholas Schultz both of Pasco, Stephen Coats and Zion Powell both of Portland, Oregon. Jerry is also survived by his sister Joan Jackson of Boise, Idaho and nieces Cheryl Keithley of Middleton, Idaho; Heidi Thomas and Amy Steinmetz both of Boise, Idaho.
A traditional Eastern Orthodox Christian graveside service was held for Jerold at the Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, Oregon on Monday, August 2, 2021, followed by an Orthodox mercy meal.
