Robert L. (Bob) Stevens, 84, of Hardman died Sunday, July 9, 2023 at Heppner. A memorial graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 5, 2023 at the Heppner Masonic Cemetery.
Bob was born July 22, 1938 to Harold and Helen (Gammell) Stevens at his grandparents’ home near Heppner. He came home to Hardman at haying time and spent the resto of his life on that windy ridge, until moving to Willow Creek Terrace in November of 2022.
He attended school at Hardman through the eighth grade, then attended Heppner High School, graduating in 1956. He attended Oregon Technical Institute and graduated with a degree in diesel technology.
Bob was needed at home and came back to farm with his parents. On June 4, 1961 he married Judy Brinda at Heppner. The couple had two children, daughter Jojean and son John. Bob farmed until 1986, then worked for Miller Welding and Treo Ranches.
He was always there to help others and family, neighbors, and friends benefitted from his knowledge and expertise. It’s been said there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix.
Bob was an accomplished fiddler and musician.
Survivors include his wife Jady, daughter Jojean Greene, son John (Pat), granddaughter Katelyn Murphy (Mike), grandson Harold Stevens (Tara), grandson Andrew Greene, granddaughter Tana Green, and great grandchildren Addie, Tymber, Weston, Callie, and Colt.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law Lyle Greene.
