Sandy Ordway, 73, of Spray died at St. Charles Hospital in Prineville, Oregon on Sunday March 28, 2021 from complications of COPD. She was born on January 30, 1948 at St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton Oregon, one of two children of Lewis and Betty Cunningham McDonald. She grew up and attended school in Hardman until third grade when the school closed in 1958. Following this the family moved to Heppner where she completed her schooling graduating from Heppner High School in 1966.
She met Bob Ordway from Spray and they were married on December 14, 1968. This began a lifelong career raising cattle on the Ordway ranch in Spray which kept her busy with the many chores and ranching activities. Over the years, Sandy greatly enjoyed her grandchildren, Franklin and Dori Ordway and also great grandson, Wyatt Ordway, as well as joining in family gatherings. In addition to the many visits from her immediate family, one highlight was the 2012 Cunningham family reunion held in Heppner that brought together many family members that had not been seen for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Ordway; mother-in-law, Eleanor Ordway; son, Rob Ordway (Michelle) and daughter, Robin Ordway; grandchildren, Franklin and Dori Ordway Embree; great grandson, Wyatt Ordway; niece, Rhonda Roberts and her son, Riley of Colfax, WA; uncle, Bob Cunningham of Ontario, Oregon as well as numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis McDonald in 1969, Betty McDonald in 2017 and brother Sherrill McDonald in 1984.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 19, 2021 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Heppner, Oregon.
