Sue Carol (Townsend) Townsend-Wiegand

Sue Carol Townsend-Wiegand passed away January 26, 2023 at the PeaceHope Hospital in Vancouver, Washington of poor health and complications from Covid.

A graveside service was held at 1 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2023, at High View Cemetery at Ione with a memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. at the Ione Community Church. A meal was served after the services at the church fellowship room.

Sue was the daughter of Pat and Hershal Townsend formerly from Ione. She was born in The Dalles, Oregon. She graduated from Ione High School in the class of '64 and completed her education at the Executive Business College in Portland.

She has two siblings Mancell Townsend [deceased] and Brenda Hoxsey of Warrenton. She was married and divorced from James Wiegand. She worked for collection agencies but was most proud of her work with the Oregon State Employment department where she collected a million dollars from written off fraud accounts before retiring in 2012.

Sue didn't have children because of cancer issues as a child but leaves behind her sister Brenda, brother-in-law Norm Hoxsey, nephews Brent Portschy, Rod Portschy, niece Denise Hoxsey Connolly. Great nephews and nieces Brendan, Brant, Trista, Ali, Caroline, Olivia, Savannah and Maddie plus several great great nieces and nephews.

A big thank you to Patti Portschy [Brent's wife] who was her care giver several weeks before being hospitalized.
